Kitten Packages

Each of the services described below are included in the kitten package.

EXAM– During the physical exam the doctor will listen to the heart and lungs and check the skin, eyes, ears, teeth, and temperature.  They will also look for any sign of birth defects.  A yearly exam is vital for optimum health of your pet.

FECAL EXAM– We will examine a fecal sample under the microscope to check for parasites. This is a very important procedure because not only are parasites detrimental to your pet’s health, but some can be transmitted to humans.

LEUKEMIA/FIV TEST– Every new cat should be tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency viruses. They are both common diseases among cats (especially strays or outdoor cats).  Kittens can be born with these diseases, or acquire them early in life.  They can be spread through saliva and can also be sexually transmitted.  Kittens should be tested on their first visit to the vet. Adults, strays, outdoor cats, or any other cat at risk should also be tested.

FVRCP- This is a combination vaccine which aids in the prevention of 4 different diseases. Three of these (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Chlamydia) cause respiratory diseases. The fourth (Panleukopenia) is a fatal disease showing flu-like symptoms. Adult cats also require regular boosters.  Kittens should have a series of FVRCP vaccines until at least 16 weeks old.

FELV– This vaccine aids in the prevention of feline leukemia. Leukemia is a highly contagious virus that debilitates the immune system and causes life long infection. There is no known cure for this virus. Adult cats require a yearly booster. Kittens should have a series of two (2) FELV vaccines.

DEWORM– A wormer is given at least twice to assure that all internal parasites are gone.

RABIES– The rabies vaccine is given between 4 and 6 months of age. By law it must be given by a licensed veterinarian or technician.  Rabies is a fatal disease which can be transmitted to humans.

FLEA  TREATMENT-  A single dose of flea preventive will be applied.

MICROCHIP- Microchips are a safe, effective and permanent way to identify your pet. A tiny microchip that contains a personal identification number is implanted under the skin. If your pet is ever lost the microchip will help your pet find their way home again safely.
